Reading Rods Word for Word Game
On each turn, one team, or individual, flips over a category card. Team members frantically brainstorm words that fit the category while the opposition tries to sidetrack them. The team must agree on a word and pull each letter of that word one lane closer to their side of the street, all before the time runs out.
This game is great for strong and weak spellers alike. Both can challenge themselves at their own level and still really enjoy the game. The stronger spellers can focus their attention on blurting out words that would include most of the letters that are crucial at that time for beating the competition. The weaker spellers can enjoy the exposure to a word/spelling game that results in fun rather than embarrassment.
Word on the Street Jr. is played just like Word on the Street; however, the categories are more appropriate/entertaining to a slightly younger crowd. Also, the entire alphabet is included “on the street” rather than just consonants.
